Silver Earrings to Match Your Style

The thing about style is that it is not one size fits all. With silver earrings or with anything else you wear, what is stylish on one person looks totally incongruent on another. Your personality needs to be reflected in whatever you wear, wherever you wear it. While you will probably adapt your clothes and jewelry to match the occasion (unless your personality is off the wall and zany), you should not mold your image to fit into something you are not. Something of you should always shine through.

When you look at the various styles of silver earrings around you will already see that certain designs suit certain personalities. Dainty silver studs, silver daisy earrings and other floral designs suit a quieter personality than bold giant silver hoop earrings or chandelier style silver dangle earrings.

If you have a flirty personality and like to make the most of your femininity, don’t hide it by choosing sliver stud earrings and keeping them hidden away behind your hair. Use dangling earrings which show off the line of your neck and are revealed when you toss your hair or throw your head back in laughter. Whatever you do, don’t go without any earrings at all as you are missing a trick. Earrings draw attention to your face in general and particularly your eyes and mouth – very important to a confirmed flirt.

If you are a bit of a rebel at heart and like the bohemian look, you will also find plenty of silver earrings to suit your look especially those threaded with tiny colored beads made of glass or precious stones or shell. Choose a glorious mixture of different colors for the most bohemian of looks. And if you like the ethnic look in clothes you will find ethnic style silver earrings to suit your wardrobe.

To tone down your choices for the office, (unless you already favored classic silver stud earrings) go smaller rather than change your style altogether – so neater, more refined silver hoop earrings, drop earrings rather than long dangling ones, and colored studs instead of dangling collections of colored beads.

To make your look more romantic or softer, choose a style of silver earrings with softer more rounded edges and more muted colors and even a bit of sparkle if it is for an evening date.

If you’re not sure which earrings suit your personality, there’s no need to worry. You will probably gravitate to the ones you like and they are often the ones that suit you best. The main thing is not to admire earrings on someone else and expect them to have the same effect on you. In that case, you are admiring the whole look of the person, not just the earrings.

Silver Hoop Earrings

You can buy silver hoop earrings in all shapes and sizes. They are some of the most popular silver earrings for sale and with good reason. Here are the types you will find and some beautiful examples to buy.

1. Small Hoops (sleepers)

when you first get your ears pierced you will generally be offered the choice of small studs or tiny hoops which you have to wear until your ears heal. After this tame introduction to earrings for pierced ears most of us want to progress on and we never go back to those tiny loops again but they ARE still available should you be so inclined.

2. Large Gypsy Hoops

Favored by Serena Williams, I am always amazed she plays professional tennis in such large hoops. Don’t they get in the way? Apparently not. They do look good however. You can buy these in all sizes and thickness to suit you. If you have a large head and “big” hair you can get away with larger loops than someone with neat hair and dainty features.

3. Twisted Hoops

Some of the latest silver hoop earrings have a twist in the loop which looks very effective when hanging from your lobe. They tend to catch the light more than straight hoops and get more attention. These loops have fluid lines and a contemporary feel. They are generally in thicker silver so that you get the full effect of the twist.

4. Hoops Threaded with Colored Stones

You can get small and large loops threaded with semi-precious stones which add a whole extra dimension to your hoop earrings. The stones move them from classic style to a kind of boho chic ethnic look. And of course they give you plenty of excuses to buy extra pairs of silver hoop earrings to go with all your clothes :)

5. Non-hoop Hoops

You can now get earrings with loops in various shapes not just circles to add a very contemporary feel. Generally in thick silver they add a unique note to your outfit. For workday wearability choose small hoops in classic shapes in thick silver, which give a formal yet contemporary feel. For weekends, choose any size or shape you like and have fun!

Gold or Sterling Silver Earrings?

If you are wondering about whether to buy gold or sterling silver earrings here are the things to think about:-

1. Your Budget

Gold is many times more expensive than sterling silver and as a result you often find much smaller designs in gold earrings (as they take less of the precious metal) than you do in silver. Sterling silver is not actually pure silver as silver in its purest form is too soft for normal wear and tear. This means that you will find almost all silver jewelry being made using sterling silver. Sterling silver is a mix of 92.5 per cent silver and 7.5 per cent copper. Though still a precious metal you will probably find sterling silver well within your budget and plenty of opportunities to expand your silver earring collection.

2. Classic or Up-to-the-Minute Fashion Conscious

You will find that designers are happier to be more experimental with a less expensive material so there are many up to date and avant garde designs in silver and fewer in gold (unless you have an exceedingly high budget). If you are looking for classic designs you will find that you will easily find them in either gold or silver. Gold stud earrings and classic hoops are just as easy to find as silver stud earrings and silver hoop earrings.

3. Your Coloring

Gold tends to go better on those with red and blond hair whereas silver looks stunning on those with dark hair although it very much depends on your skin tone too. When you have a color consultation there are definitely gold people and silver people in any case. If you suit orangey, brown and green colors best then gold is likely to be a better match for you. if you suit clear cool colors then silver is for you. Most people can get away with both however.

If you’re not sure which color tone you suit try looking at yourself in a mirror in natural daylight draped in an orange cloth and then a bight pink cloth in quick succession. You will see that either the warmer shades of the orange or the clearer pink brighten your whole face. If the orange works best gold earrings are for you but if it’s pink then go for silver earrings instead.

If you prefer silver but you suit fall type colors best try combining your silver with colored stones such as amber to get the best of both worlds.
