Silver dangle earrings look beautiful as they hang so gracefully and emphasize the length of your neck. I always link them with growing up as we were not allowed to wear dangle earrings to school as kids and of course I could not wait to leave and wear them (among other things that weren’t allowed!) When you choose a pair of dangle earrings, it’s hard to go wrong but these are the kinds of things to think about when choosing between different pairs of silver earrings:-

1. Proportion

If you are quite short (or have a shortish neck) then overly long dangling earrings will not do you an favors as they will be out of proportion to your size. Go for a shortish length of no more than 3 or 4 cm or one to one and a half inches if that is the case or choose shorter drop earrings. If you are tall and have a long neck you can emphasize you height and neck length as much as you like with longer length elegant earrings.

2. Style

Sterling silver dangle earrings are generally less formal than stud earrings and can look a little flirty. The more dangle and the more “bits” (added strands or stones etc) the more flirty they are! If you want to be slightly more formal choose a simple shape with not so much going on, but if you want to reveal your gypsy boho streak then add as many stones and strands as you like. With some asymmetric hairstyles you may want to wear one silver dangle earring in one ear and a matching stud in the other ear but I have yet to see unmatched pairs of earrings – you will probably have to buy two pairs to do this.

3. Color

You can buy plain silver dangling earrings and also earrings which are a beautiful color due to enamel work o the dditon of colored semi-precious stones. It is good to have both types in your earring “wardrobe” – those with go with all your clothes and earrings which enhance particular outfits. There s something very finished about a look which is tied together by the color of your earrings and other jewelry.

4. Fastening

You can buy silver dangle earrings for pierced and non-pierced ears. You will find a lot more choice if your ears are pierced but look out for clip-ons if they are not. You will find that you won’t get such a dangle effect with a clip-on earring so it is well worth thinking about having your ears pierced if you love these. There are earrings for pierced ears which fasten with a post through the ear and then a butterfly clip at he back and also those which are on wires which thread through your ear. Both work equally well but you might find that you prefer one over the other when you have tried them.
